The owner Helen feels that it important for a small business to have continuity of service, therefore she takes great care when choosing her team members and trains them to keep
the standard of excellence you would expect from Millionhairs. Each team member has been working for Millionhairs for several years and brings their own individual quality to the business . The team includes Helen’s 3 daughters who also share the same passion and love of dogs as their mum.
Helen owner/senior stylist
Dogs have always played a major part of my life and I have been in the dog grooming industry for over 35 years. I gained my professional dog grooming qualifications in 1993 enabling my grooming career to progress.
In 1998 I was given the opportunity to buy the business. I haven’t looked back since!
I am well established in the industry and have had the privilege of being asked to perform
at demonstrations at prestigious training seminars for both the grooming and pet care professions. I have also been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to compete in dog grooming competitions where upon I won awards for my grooming skills. This is something I feel very proud of.
I have been so blessed to go straight into a career i absolutely love and never take it for granted. In my many years of grooming I have had the pleasure of not only grooming some amazing dogs but being part of their life from young puppies to their mature years, seeing them grow, change and develop. It really is a wonderful and it makes me feel so special when they know me and greet me with kisses and cuddles, it is what makes my job extra special.
I have in depth knowledge and understanding of canine behaviour and have owned and trained
a number of dogs my current dog being a beagle called Bentley. I think he is possibly the laziest dog I know until there is food around. You will often find him with me at the salon probably asleep somewhere unless he sniffs out a biscuit. He makes me smile everyday just by being him.
Jess / Stylist
I always knew I wanted to work with animals growing up so when I finished school back in 2017 I decided to study animal care at college. I went on to complete my level 3 diploma in animal management at Filton college.
Once I finished college I did some research into what specific careers within animal care I think I would enjoy and that’s when I discovered the world of dog grooming. After contacting millionhairs I was offered the opportunity of a apprentiship, and I haven’t looked back since.
I completed my apprenticeship back in the beginning of 2020, gaining my qualifications and from then onwards I have been growing my experience with many different breeds. I particularly love trying out different styles and keeping up to date with the latest grooming trends so I’m always up for working with clients and trying something new. I’m very lucky to see your beautiful dogs characters come to life through fun styling.
Rachel / Stylist
Growing up I have always had a passion for dogs and jumped at the chance of work experience in a dog salon when I left school. I was then offered weekend work at the salon and knew this was the job for me.
As time went by I had a family so I had to leave grooming for a while to become a full time mum. When I was offered a position at Millionhairs I jumped at the chance to resume a career in grooming.
I have been with millionhairs since 2014 and trained by Helen. I love my job, learning new skills every day and seeing all the different dogs with such different personalities come through the
door makes the day even better.
I am a very proud owner of a German Shepherd called Maximus. He is my big, soppy bundle of joy. I especially love the big dogs having been around them whilst growing up.
I feel very privileged to be working with all of your beautiful dogs. A job I am so passionate about I really can’t imagine doing anything else.
Amelia / Reception and Social Media
I’ve been working with my mum ever since I was 13 and wanted to start saving up some pocket money. I’m very lucky in that I pretty much grew up in the salon and around all of your lovely dogs, and was given this opportunity from such a young age.
8 years later, and here I am! My role has changed quite a bit over the years, from bathing to cleaning and everything in between. Nowadays, I mainly work in reception; answering the phone, seeing dogs in and out, and more recently managing the little shop we now have! It’s been so rewarding to see the development of the salon firsthand, and I’m incredibly grateful for the experience that working with my mum has given me. My favourite part of the job is honestly getting to talk to all the customers! I love a good natter and have made some really strong relationships with the clients here. I’m away studying in Edinburgh at the moment, but I always look forward to coming back in the holidays to help out and be my usual, hyper-organised self on reception, doing my best to keep all the groomers in check 😉
Kiera and Alanna / Grooming Assistants
As dogs have always been a major part in our family’s life going to our mum’s salon was an exciting trip for us both. Getting to see what she did, seeing all the dogs being groomed and their transformations taking place inspired us to get involved as soon as we were old enough. We were lucky to start to work in the salon alongside her and the team bathing and drying dogs . This is something we both love and enjoy.
Unfortunately due to our studies we are only able to work at the salon during the holidays and some weekends but we love hearing about the dogs and it is always great to catch up with them all when we are back at the salon.
Mr.Bentley Beagle
I am Bentley and I come to the salon from time to time to help the team and to make sure that there are plenty of treats in stock for all the dogs. I even do taste checks to make sure they are up to standard.
I am normally sleeping but I will sometimes wake up to say hello to you. Mum says I am very lazy and greedy but I know she would not have me any other way.
